Children/Teen Theater Auditions - Dickens A Christmas Carol - 8/29/2015
Ages: 7 -18 who have never performed in a lead or large role in any play. No previous acting experience necessary. During the Victorian era, stingy and cranky Ebenezer Scrooge, who hates Christmas, loses his partner Marley on Christmas Eve. For seven years, he runs his business exploiting his employee Bob Cratchit, and treats his own family and acquaintanceswith bitter behavior. However, this particular Christmas Eve he is visited by the doomed ghost of Marley who reveals that three spirits will visit him this night. The first one, the spirit of past Christmas, recalls his miserable youth; the spirit of the present Christmas shows him the poor situation of Bob’s family; and the spirit of future Christmas shows his fate. The question is, can or is he willing to change? This production will be cast with children & teens 7 – 18....more info

Calls From Santa - 11/1/2015
Ho! Ho! Ho! The Park District has made special arrangements for children age 4-10 to receive a call from Santa Claus. Calls will be made from December 4 to December 18 between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Santa’s convenience. Participants must register at the Park District office between November 1 and November 30 by completing one of Santa’s special calling forms. If there is more than one child in a family who wishes a call from Santa, Santa will make one phone call and talk to each child. He will not make several calls....more info


Santa's Mailbox - 11/1/2015
Due to the large volume of Christmas mail last year, the Tinley Park-Park District has been asked to help with the mail delivery to the North Pole. Children who would like to write to Santa and receive a personal letter from him should drop off their letters at "Santa's Mailbox". It will be located in the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center during office hours from November 1 through November 20. Children age 3-12 only please. Don't forget to include your address for Santa! Because Santa will be busy packing his sleigh for Christmas night, he will only be able to answer letters received on or before December 1. Free!...more info

He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you” - so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd”—a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact....more info


Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk - 11/8/2015
All ages (see race registration form or brochure for age categories). $16 without shirt or $22 with race t-shirt (pre-registration) / $30 on race day. Awards will be given for first, second, and third place runners in all age categories, male and female, based on chip timing. The Polar Express Storytime Train* - 12/6/2015
Please note: Registration for all trains is full, and due to a long waitlist we are no longer taking registration for The Polar Express Storytime Train. Program #: 311756A (11:15 a.m.) / 311756B (1:15 p.m.) / 311756C (3:15 p.m.) - trains depart promptly at given time. $12 Resident (per person) / $16 Non-resident (per person). All aboard! The Polar Express Storytime Train will leave the Tinley Park train station on December 6 for a trip to the North Pole (Joliet train station) to visit with Santa. Take this exciting train ride, based on the book, The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg. A storyteller will be on the train to narrate this story while children and thier parents enjoy Christmas cookies. When we reach the North Pole, we will find Santa Claus and bring him back to Tinley Park with us on the train. A parent or guardian must accompany all children. Join us as we have some fun getting in shape too! We will warm up with fun fitness activities, then head to the indoor track for our dash! Kids will run twice around the track and a special visitor will meet them at the finish line. Once everyone has had a chance to partake in the activities, Rudolph will lead everyone to visit with Santa where they will enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, and crafts! Tinley Park-Park District Refinances Bonds to Save Taxpayers in Long Term
At the August 5 Board Meeting, the Board of Park Commissioners of the Tinley Park-Park District approved the refinancing of the remaining $5,370,000 of 2005 authorized general obligation bonds and saved taxpayers over $244,500 with the lower interest rates available now. READ MORE
