Come on down to the watering hole and bring your favorite poles and pals for this catch-and-release fishing derby! Prizes are awarded for the largest fish and the most fish caught in each age category. Bring your own fishing gear! Prize age categories are 2-6; 7-10; 11-13 and 14-16. An adult must accompany all children under age 12 and under. The event is held rain or shine! Start your holiday celebrations with an exhilarating 5K run or walk at McCarthy Park! For over 30 years, Tinley Park-Park District has kicked off the 4th of July with this event. The top three male and female in each category based on chip timing are rewarded with medals. Awards also presented to the overall best male and female resident and non-resident! Early registration ends June 28 at 3:00 pm. Race day registration opens at 7:00 am.

Join us for this fun public art experience at Tinley Park-Park District’s Chalk the Walk event. The District provides the chalk and sidewalk surrounding Community Park, White Water Canyon and The Band Shell. You add your art and positive messages! July 15 celebrates the fifth year of Unplug Illinois Day, an Illinois Parks and Recreation Association statewide initiative to encourage people to put down their electronics and visit the parks! The Park District event includes fun games, artsy crafts, free raffles and more. Be sure to grab the free goody bag filled with unplugged fun for families! Why not bring along a picnic and enjoy an afternoon in the park!
