Tinley Park, Illinois: The Del Melton Fishing Derby returns to the Tinley Park-Park District’s Centennial Park on Saturday, June 9 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, rain or shine! Children ages 2 to 13 are encouraged to come out and try their hand at the great sport. No experience is necessary to participate. Will you win the award for largest fish caught? Or maybe for the most fish caught? Prizes will be awarded for each age group: 2 – 6 years; 7 – 10 years and 11 – 13 years. Parents must accompany children ages 2 through 10.
The Fishing Connection located in Tinley Park is generously supplying the bait for the event. Participants need to bring their own fishing gear and bucket. Registration prior to the event is encouraged. The fee is $10 per resident of the Park District and $13 per non-resident. You can register at the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center or at www.tinleyparkdistrict.org. Registration at the event will open at 8:30 am. Centennial Park is located at 7601 167th Street (just east of 80th Avenue) in Tinley Park.
