Join the Tinley Park-Park District annual celebration of Independence Day! This year we have added some new activities to our already great line up of food and entertainment. The opening ceremony at 4:00 pm includes color guard flag raising by the VFW Bremen Post #2791 and American Legion Tinley Park Post #615, our National Anthem sung by Tinley Park resident Jackelyn Mubarek and comments by the Park District’s Board of Commissioners.

Then the party kicks into high gear! Food trucks are new to the event this year! Satisfy your hunger and thirst at Banging Gavel Brewery, Joey’s Red Hots, Smokin’ Z BBQ, Tone Capone Tacos, Salubrius Stop, Rainbow Cone, Pierogi Rig and The Dock at Inwood! Each food truck displays their own menus/prices. Feel free to dig in until the food trucks close at 9 pm! A 5:30 pm Park District staff slices and gives out free watermelon. There are tons of free activities available for all: bingo, video games, laser tag and horseshoes; kids can enjoy face painting, glitter tattoos and sandy candy and crafts. Do not miss the fun…these activities that end at 7 pm!

Throughout the evening, there is live entertainment for all ages. At 4:15 pm, Jeanie B! entertains the kids on the main stage until 5:30 pm. Pete Oprisko takes the stage of the Performing Arts Center for two sets, 4:30-5:15 pm and 5:30-6:15 pm. Peter always delights his audience with American standard tunes everyone knows and loves. Keep a lookout at 5pm for everyone’s favorite stilt walker, David Fleming, strolling around the park—a great Instagram photo! If you are looking for Bruce Korosa’s Polka Band, he is returning this year to the McCarthy Rec Building from 6:30 pm until 9 pm.

Our headliner Mellencougar takes the main stage at 6 pm playing the music of John Mellencamp and classic rock from the 70s and 80s. Dance and sing along to all your favorites. When the live entertainment ends, get ready to experience the firework spectacular. The Park District’s Grand Finale Fireworks Spectacular at 9:15 pm is the perfect way to end a fabulous 4th of July celebration!
