Tinley Park-Park District Summer Concert and Movie Series Returns

Tinley Park, Illinois: Once again the Tinley Park-Park District will bring the Village’s Life Amplified theme to life through their many upcoming free musical events. The official start of summer will see the entire Village participate in Make Music Day! On June 21 the Park District invites everyone to visit the Sgt. Sutter Playground (9 – 10 am), Bormet Park (11 am – 12 pm), Rauhoff Park (1 – 2 pm), and Deinert Park (2 – 3 pm). All of these park playgrounds incorporate musical elements and District staff will be on hand during the times noted with musical giveaways! At 7 pm, The Uh Ohs duet will perform at the Vogt Visual Arts Center Gazebo.

The Thursday in the Park concert and movie series kicks off June 28 with the Tinley Park Community Band performing classical selections. The concerts and movies are held at the band shell located on the east side of Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center, 8125 West 171st Street. Grab your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a relaxing evening with friends and family. Other entertainers this year include Rendition, a 1950s to present cover band, Five Guys Named Moe and Billy Elton. Movie nights include showings of Leap and Pete’s Dragon. On July 19, Frozen will be screened after the annual Christmas in July event. Thursdays in the Park will conclude with a Back to School fair followed by Monsters University. Watch for The Lucky Hot Dog food cart at all of these events. The Thursdays in the Park movie series is sponsored by Republic Bank and Ozinga.

Head over to the Vogt Visual Arts Center on select Friday evenings for Gazebo Jazz Nights, July through September. Concerts begin at 7 pm. Gazebo Jazz Nights are supported in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
