Marie Ryan
Marie Ryan has called Tinley Park home for over 33 years, where she and her husband, John, raised their two daughters. Even before moving to the community, Marie has always been actively involved with the local park district, teaching sports, art, and general programs. Once she became a Tinley Park resident, Marie brought her passion for recreation and quickly became involved with the Tinley Park-Park District, teaching youth classes in the early days while juggling between three rented facilities.
Driven by a desire to see a permanent recreation center built, Marie led the effort to build both the Bettenhausen Recreation Center and White Water Canyon.
In 2003, eager to contribute to the vision of a dynamic facility, Marie ran for the Park District Board and has served as a member ever since. She is proud of the work the Park District does daily, offering exceptional recreation programs, and providing dedicated staff, and outstanding facilities to the residents of her hometown. Marie is excited about the future of the Park District and enjoys seeing her three grandchildren participate in the programs and facilities that her own children loved.
Bernie O' Boyle
Bernie has lived in Tinley Park for over three decades. A proud U.S. Navy veteran and current electrician, Bernie and his wife Cindy raised their five children family in Tinley Park. Throughout his children’s lives, Bernie was actively involved in the community coaching athletics, with many games played at Potawatomi Park, a family favorite in the area.
After his children outgrew the sports leagues, Bernie wanted to give back to the community that had become like family. Looking for ways to stay involved, he joined the Tinley Park-Park District Board of Commissioners. As commissioner, Bernie works every day to enhance opportunities at the Park District so that young families continue to live and thrive in this community, just as his family has for many years. Bernie is also the proud grandfather to grandson Rory.
Donald Cuba
Don has called Tinley Park home for over 30 years. He worked in the financial industry and now teaches part-time at St. Xavier University. Together with his wife, he raised four children in Tinley Park, including a son who serves in the military. He was also an active coach for the Bobcats for many years. The family enjoyed celebrating July 4th at McCarthy Park and spent countless hours at Tinley Junction, swinging on the golf course and practicing in the batting cages. They also love strolling along the community's many walking paths with their beloved Dog Thea by their side.
Don and his family are strong believers in giving back to the community. He is an active member of the Knights of Columbus. In 2021, Don decided to run for the Board of Commissioners to further contribute to the community he cares for. His favorite part of being a Commissioner is the reward of being part of the Park District family, witnessing the dedication of the staff who work tirelessly to support the mission of the Park District: to provide creative and exceptional recreation opportunities for the hardworking families of Tinley Park.
After his children outgrew the sports leagues, Bernie wanted to give back to the community that had become like family. Looking for ways to stay involved, he joined the Tinley Park-Park District Board of Commissioners.
