Creative Arts

Creative Arts encompasses programs for Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Dance and Music Lessons offered by the Tinley Park-Park District.  Click on the links below to get more information on each of these categories.

Performing Arts

The Tinley Park Performing Arts Center is the home of our very own Tinley Park Community Theater, Tinley Park-Park District’s Children’s and Teen’s Theaters, and many other performing arts programs. The Center also offers numerous acting and improv classes throughout the year. The theater seats 120 people and is available for rental for corporate meetings, theater performances, birthday parties, and more. Please call (708) 342-4200 for more info.

The Performing Arts program intends to assist in developing talent in children and adults through participation in, and attendance at events and educational activities. All activities shall be evaluated on their ability to involve new participants, educate those involved and to whatever extent possible, offer a public performance or showing of the resulting arts. We delight in the arts; they are the essence of our heritage. All residents of the south suburbs are invited to come and enjoy the arts with us. Please browse our program brochure to see the various programs and activities offered.

All performances are held at the Tinley Park Performing Arts Center, 16801 S. 80th Avenue in Tinley Park.

COMEDY IMPROV SHOWS

Fourth Wall Comedy Improv & Open Mic Night

When you’ve streamed it all, or there are no more snacks in the cabinet, brush off the crumbs and support live theater. Watch us be weird characters and do odd things for your amusement. It’s more relatable than you probably imagined.

Sinister Smiles: An Improvised Fright Night

It’s not funny to be scared yourself.  But it is sometimes funny to see other people get scared!  Why not see our actors get scared for your amusement?  As composer Danny Elfman wrote in the classic This is Halloween, “Wouldn’t you like to see something strange?” Come with us and you will see!

Always Hooked on
the Holidays

The holiday season returns and so does the hilarious theatrical holiday comedy spectacular that audience members call “more fun than small talk with the in-laws.”  There will be cheers, laughs and plenty of seasonal foolishness.  Features performances by Fourth Wall Improv’s Adul and Kids troupes.

Fine Arts

The award-winning Vogt Visual Arts Center (VVAC) is located at 17420 S. 67th Court in Tinley Park. It is a place for all residents of the south suburbs to enjoy beautiful surroundings and activities geared to the celebration of imagination. It offers a chance for all ages, all levels of proficiency and interest to come together and enjoy a variety of Fine Art classes and workshops. It also provides gallery space for students and local artists as well as studio space for VVAC members. The VVAC is housed in the historic Vogt home. Its original owner, Henry Vogt, was the first mayor of Tinley Park.

If there is a class or program that you would like to see offered at the Tinley Park-Park District, please let us know!

Ballet & Dance Classes

Our comprehensive dance program runs a total of 35 weeks ending with a dance recital where the students showcase all they have learned. We offer classes in ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop for students ages 3-14. This is your only opportunity to register for dance, as it is a progressive program; please understand that it is necessary due to recital and costume order. All age requirements must be met by September 1, 2021. The instructor has the right to move children at her discretion.

All students must attend class in the proper uniform. Girls: A plain black leotard made of lycra, cotton or nylon and white tights; no velvet material, skirts or prints on the leotard. White ballet shoes and/or black tap jazz shoes. Hair should be in a bun or pony tail. Boys: A black t-shirt and shorts. If you cannot find these items on your own, you may order through Ms. Priscilla on the first day of class. If you have any questions before classes begin, please email Ms. Priscilla at psdance@comcast.net.
